The River's Edge Motel Lodge & Resort

Absolutely one of they most wonderful places we have stayed and we have traveled a lot of places!! Owners are fabulous and the place is beautiful. We will definitely being staying again. I would highly recommend this beautiful place to anyone looking to stay in Ouray.

My husband and I stayed here for 4 nights. We were greeted by a very nice man named John. He helped us get settled and was always nice to chit chat with. The place is VERY dog friendly. There were a lot of dogs running around off leash. I do think they live there. There is a dog park right behind the hotel. It was busy but best time we early early morning. The grounds are beautiful. Lush green grass right along a small river. One tip I'd give the owners was too have a doggie bag station with trash somewhere. Guest weren't always picking up after their dogs which drove me crazy. They have two hot tubs. Firepit, out door tables/chairs. Now the stairs. Most of the stairs are metal grate. Dogs paws can get caught. I guess they are for when it snows. We were warned by John when made reservations. I figured it wouldn't be a problem because we were on the first floor. Nope. You have to go up 5-6 stairs to get to first floor. Our dogs were terrified of the stairs and we had to carry them up and down. Now the room. Very, very outdated. Pretty clean though esp. the bathroom. The kitchen had dirty foil around the burners. Food etc from others. The cabinets' were falling apart. Baseboards chipped. Very small t.v. far from beds. No deadbolt on door. Flimsy door. Had to slam it to get it to shut. I hate giving such a mix review. I wish I had to money to give them to update and make it better!! Would we stay there again? Absolutely. Beautiful flowers all over, good vibe. Everyone so very nice. No one bothers you. Quiet. Good Mexican restaurant next door. Walk to main street.

One of the reasons we stayed here was we had been camping for a week and wanted to do laundry. The front desk person told us that there was laundry and two hot tubs. The washing machine had been broken over a month (said the sign on it) and there was only one hot tub with green suspicious water in it. The refrigerator didn't work, the bathroom fan was crazy loud, the breakfast is a packaged muffin in a plastic bag...you get it. It is a lodge that COULD be very nice but feels neglected and cheaply run. From what we paid for our two nights they could buy a brand new washing machine....why not do so? On the other hand, it is next to the creek with a big lawn for our dog to run around on. That was nice. The woman at the front desk tried to help, she was very friendly. Overall, we would not come back here.

Only hotel on the river. Nice outdoor area with tables, benches, fire pit, hot tub-very relaxing to spend time out there. Views of mountains are amazing. Walking distance to hot springs, restaurants, market plenty of parking, managers (Charlie & Roxanne) were sweet & super helpful! We even saw bears several nights which added to our experience! only thing is the queen bed room is kinda small. We made it work, only in the room to sleep & Shower. It has a mini fridge & microwave. To go breakfast bags were a plus (included water, yogurt, muffin, granola bar, mandarin). I had only booked for 2 nights but loved it so much I made it our base camp for our 6 day trip!

Charged for a room that was never confirmed. Tried to resolve with Hotels.com and with the hotel directly. No luck.Staff totally unreasonable. Forced me to dispute the charge on my credit card. I had to drive an extra hour at night in the mountains to find another pet friendly hotel.
