Conveniently located just off the highway with clean, spacious rooms (some with balconies) in a beautiful setting. Free breakfast was a bonus with hot eggs and sausage in addition to the usual offerings. Plenty of free parking. The staff was friendly and attentive. The only reason I didn't give a perfect score was housekeeping. We were told when we checked in that housekeeping would automatically come every three days; we were there for seven days and never received any housekeeping services. We were able to get clean towels from the front desk and when we told them housekeeping hadn't come, they assured us they would put us on the schedule. We still never received any sort of housekeeping. (FYI: There was no "Do Not Disturb" sign so it wasn't that.)

I like to travel to Denver Friday nights for weekend ski trips. My go-to is Origin Red Rocks which is just in the foothills and is a nice property with a cool vibe. Saw this place and thought I would give it a shot as its farther up the mountain, however, could not make my flight to Denver. I asked them to move my reservation out a week, not even refund, just move it to the following week. They declined and charged me for a night's stay even though they had availability the next week. I am pretty forgiving of hospitality companies in general, it's a tough business, and I could understand if it were peak season and revenue would genuinely be lost during a critical time, but that wasn't the case here as it wasn't peak season. It's just a jerk-move by the property and earns a well-deserved one star review. If I can help someone else avoid the same fate, all the better. I love Origin Red Rock, only 10 minutes down the mountain and even in the worst Denver snow storms easy to get to. And if you can't make it, they've been cool about it in the past.

We booked in May/June for our Oct stay, part of a wedding block. We had wanted to be there just one night so that we could spend a longer time with our son who lives in Colorado. They required nights for the wedding block, so we went along with that, leaving our son earlier than we wanted to. They then reached out on the Thursday afternoon, letting us know that “somehow” they were overbooked so we would need to go to a different hotel which they had selected and would pay for. Yes, they paid for that night, but they even booted the bride and groom and were very passive, shrugging it off: “these things happen.” They seemed to feel that by ensuring that we were not literally without a place to stay on Friday night, they were covering their responsibility. But when you book a hotel room, you usually expect to be able to have access, not just to a bed at night, but also a place to stay during the day and to hang up your clothes and otherwise do the things that you do to get ready for a wedding. It’s not as though this was the biggest crisis ever, but their way of handling it was very frustrating with lots of passive language. Like, “somehow we were overbooked” — and when I submitted the review that their hotel chain sent out, the response I got from the manager was an apology that “we didn’t exceed your expectations.” I couldn’t help it and I responded: it’s not that they didn’t exceed my expectations, they did not even meet my basic expectation that when I book a room in advance, it will be available to me. I don’t think that’s asking too much.

Love this place! It is not luxury, but it is clean and comfortable with a rustic vibe in great location. The hotel itself is not a destination. We come to the area for the hiking and outdoor activities, restaurants and shopping and this is a great spot to fall into bed and clean up in the morning before we’re out the door and back to our adventure. Not sure they offer much in media entertainment. We always get in late, sleep, shower and go!

We’ve stayed here several times and really enjoyed it. BUT, this time it just wasn’t as good. The rooms didn’t seem clean. I had to go down to the desk two times to get clean sheets, pillowcases, etc. The breakfast was terrible. Even the waffle batter was lumpy. We left and went to McDonalds. The pool and hot tubs are nice. The hotel is in a pretty location but might look into other options next time.
