Retro Inn at Mesa Verde

Based on the great reviews, we decided to give this little motel a try. It is an older charming motel that we found was in a great location with lots of restaurants nearby, was very clean and certainly had a unique vibe! It was sort of like the quaint motels you would find on Route 66. We stayed in the Concorde room which was decorated with photos of Mission Control-Houston, and various aircraft. The furniture is a little worn, but the beds and pillows were very comfortable. Breakfast consisted of muffins, already prepared breakfast tacos, cereal and juice. Although it was not a big breakfast compared to more expensive motels, we didn't leave hungry. All in all, we loved our stay and wouldn't hesitate to go back.

Very friendly desk staff made check in easy. They use real actual keys for the rooms. Our room was super clean and spacious. Comfy bed and nice duvet bedding. Cute chairs to sit outside the room and enjoy the evening breeze. They really kept up the retro vibe. Breakfast was about the same as a chain hotel. I’d stay here again.

The double queen room was quite spacious with plenty of room on at least one side of the two beds. The other side of the two beds is a tighter space. Everything was clean. The A/C unit seems to run a lot cooler than the thermostat setting, but I compensated by simply not running it most of the time because the room temperature ended up being comfortable enough without it. There was a square table with a couple of reasonably comfortable armchairs, and a small, three-drawer dresser with the TV on it. The only lighting in the main room was a floor lamp, with a table lamp between the beds. There was an apartment-size refrigerator, a microwave, an ironing board. There were just two smallish trash cans. All in all, it was a comfortable room except for the lighting. The bed's quite comfortable. There was a spare blanket in the room, which I ended up needing to use. The bathroom area was divided into two spaces. The water closet room had a tub shower and a toilet with plenty of space. There was adequate counter space by the sink. The large mirror and couple of fluorescent strips over the mirror provided excellent light in the outer bathroom space with the sink.

STAY HERE!! If you are looking for a place to stay and the Retro Inn has a room......BOOK IT!! We stayed here and were very happy we did. Not a chain brand hotel, which is great. A motor lodge that the owners really love. Also, I have to mention Anthony. He was OUTSTANDING! Gave us a tour of their theme rooms. If the Great Gatsby room is available, pay a few extra bucks and stay in something incredibly unique. If we're ever in the area again.... we'll stay here!
