Holiday Inn Express Walnut Creek an IHG Hotel

We were visiting family in the area, so we booked the HIE in Walnut Creek. Overall, it was a great stay... Our room had a king bed. It also had a small dry bar with a fridge and microwave and ample charging outlets. The bathroom was clean, and the bed was comfortable... Another family member stayed in a double queen room and it was furnished pretty much the same as our room... The public spaces were nice, albeit a bit chilly...i had to wear my hoodie while hanging out in the lobby... It had a pool, but it was outdoors, so i wasn't about to freeze, but during summer, i can see it being a real asset... In fact, the pool was located in a large, private courtyard area complete with tables and chairs, grassy areas AND a BBQ grill. On the nicer days, i found myself hanging out there. The breakfast was included and i would say it was definitely above average. There was plenty of seating, so no problem finding a table... Onsite parking is in an underground garage, so you're out of the weather, plus it's seemed more secure than being out in the open... Location is on a main road and near the interstate, but i don't recall hearing much road noise... It's maybe a short 5 minute drive to the downtown strip, which was very convenient for us.... The room views are nothing to look at....unless you get a courtyard facing room. Staff was friendly and helpful... My only real complaint is they charged for parking....about $15/nite... Given it's in a suburban locale, IMO, they shouldn't charge for parking....that's a downtown big city thing..... Also, while i didn't use the wifi, my sister said it was real slow at times... In conclusion, if you need a place to stay in the northern East Bay area, the HIE in Walnut Creek is a good bet.

Service was pretty unfortunate here. We were mislead with the availability of roll away bed. We called ahead and they said we can get one, then come time for the stay, they said we couldn't. Front desk was pretty cold and dismissive. They made no effort to try and address the situation. Also, there are signs of mold and rust in the room. It's worth noting that the Filipina breakfast service lady is awesome. She is really warm, welcoming and really on top of that breakfast service. She is the star of the facility

Room was clean and the bed was comfortable. The facility is older and we found it to be noisy when a neighbor used the shower at 4am. Towels were not refreshed during the stay, and we needed them as the shower curtain leaked. Price was low, next time we will choose a different, higher price point hotel.

The front desk staff were so nice, they added to my positive experience of staying here. Nice room, clean, quiet. Convenient location. Note: Be prepared to pay $15./night parking fee. Apparently I did not read the fine print on my reservation.

Nice hotel but didn't get the room that was booked. Parking is $15 a day and the garage is beneath the building. If you don't want to pay parking then ensure your car is visibly empty and park on the street. There is a Sprouts grocery store right up the street and the Bart station is <15 minute walk. Location is not bad and the courtyard is nice. Breakfast - starts late (0630) and has the basic fare. Most tasteless eggs I have ever had but the oatmeal was delicious.
