excellent customer service, especially Vanessa the concierge and Tawnia in the restaurant...both were exceptional...lovely hallways and spacious rooms, very clean hotel...everyone who works here is very friendly... But it is in need of a remodel, especially the lobby and outdoor terrace, both of which have worn and dated furniture...the outdoor terrace is an easy fix if they were just to purchase and install new furniture with a better layout.... like most of SF, the hotel backs up to a sketchy area....it only takes walking a few blocks and it gets seedy really fast...I think the better view is not of Union Square, but rather of Yerba Buena Gardens, which is newer and more modern... The cuisine needs to be brought up a few levels....the hotels doesn't feel luxury enough....

I decided to try out the Four Seasons -- not my usual SF hotel choice -- because I wanted to use a swimming pool on my short stay. This being a Four Seasons, I assumed that I'd be wowed by the experience. But the hotel was something of a dissappointment; I found it to be lacking in color and character. I could never quite make sense of the hotel, in part because it was all rather turned-around: the address is Market Street, but you actually access the main entrance off of a side street that's not too easy to find. And the swimming pool is in another building entirely, inside of an Equinox Club (though accessible through the hotel). So I never quite got my bearings in the place. My room was nice and large but otherwise unremarkable, with not much of a view (ask for a higher floor). Staff were helpful and pleasant and room service was fine, but nothing really packed a punch. As for the swimming pool: Get there early, as it was packed every day, and lanes are dangerously narrow. All in all my stay was pleasant but underwhelming; I expected more from a Four Seasons. There are definitely better hotel choices in this beautiful city.

My husband and I had a superb stay at the Four Seasons in San Francisco. We booked through Chase Luxury Travel, which offered a number of benefits for doing so (e.g., a room upgrade if available, a $100 property credit, breakfast for two, and a welcome amenity). Before arriving, I reached out to the hotel to request a room on a higher floor with a nice view, and the hotel confirmed receipt of my request. When I arrived, David did an excellent job handling check-in. He reviewed and explained our benefits through Chase, and he informed us that we had been given a room on the highest floorâthe 17thâwith a nice view (but no upgrade because of a lack of availability, which I totally understood because it was the holiday season). Our room was beautiful and did indeed have a beautiful view of Yerba Buena Gardens and the SF skyline. The following morning, I had a great workout at the attached Equinox Sports Clubâa main reason I picked this hotelâand then a wonderful breakfast at MKT (the doughnuts and breakfast pastry basket were excellent). Annie did a wonderful job handling our very efficient checkout. I would love to stay at this hotel again; my only regret was our stay was too short!

Fantastic hotel with exceptional service. I had a beautiful suite for four nights, and loved the accommodation. I ate in the hotel for multiple meals, and the bar, lounge and restaurant were great, but room service was even better. Given my sleep cycle remained on EST, I was impressed that I could order from the lunch/dinner menu at 9 am, without anything but an 'of course'! Looking forward to returning.

Super nice hotel but staff can be a bit claustrophobic when eating a meal, it feels like you have to give feedback on every mouthful. The plates are whipped away as you finish even if others are still eating and the bill is put on the table before you've finished the meal, feels like a fast food outlet.
