This is the third time I have stayed here... the first time was fine, the second time the front desk manager was terrible, hung up on me, called me a name...just the most terrible experience and I have worked for a hotel for 13 years. The most recent time, I had called the front desk to discuss checking in early...the conversation was going around in circles and eventually the front desk staff asked if they could place me on hold, hung up and when I called back they wouldn't answer and it went straight to the voiceover. I know for a fact that they can see the phone number so basically they were ignoring my call. This isn't this first time I've had this happen at this particular hotel. It's funny bc it is supposed to be this somewhat swanky hotel in Little Italy but the staff are stuck up and unprofessional... I've stayed at so many hotels from Hampton inns to Waldorf, to Sofitel hotels all over the world and this place though the location and the back of house staff are great, front of house is absolutely terrible. They remind me of stuck up LA transplants who think their sh%$ don't stink. Anyway, I digress. Beautiful hotel, terrible staff. Good luck.

I stayed during Covid when no hotels were available, and this one was remarkable because not only was it one of the Most comfortable stays & beds I've ever had. I felt safe and they had a Don Julio bar downstairs. My Mom only lived a couple blocks up the street and I could see her balcony from my window. I loved the high floor; I just Wished I had some SD breeze and a balcony too!! Best part of this hotel is the free gym connected to it next door. Best steam room I've ever been in!! It's a Great gym with spin classes too. They don't offer it free anymore, but it's Well worth $30/day. Great small pool and rooftop bar. If only they had balconies.....

My kid and I were doing a college visit in San Diego first time and the weather was perfect. Warm enough to walk around but overcast to not burn. This hotel was 15 minutes from SDSU and clean and modern. Bathrooms were very clean and upgraded up to my very high standards. The room was roomy, spacious for 2 and clean. Room was a bit dated but it was fine for a quick trip. Queen beds were comfy and clean. The restaurant was great for breakfast and staff were friendly helpful. Gym and facilities were modern and clean. The location was perfect, close to the shore with long walks on the pier, walkable to the ship museums and tourist sites. Best was the Bob Hope memorial! The large statue of the photographer of the WWII couple kissing. And best of all Very close to little Italy.

I had to make an adjustment to an upcoming 6 night stay at Carte Hotel San Diego Downtown, Curio Collection by Hilton, but was unable to do so from the website. I rang the hotel directly and was helped immensely by the every capable and pleasant Saniya. She answered all my questions and effected the adjustment within just a few minutes. I very much appreciated the professionalism and now even more looking forward to my upcoming stay.

Meh. It’s a newer hotel. The reason I am writing this review is also the #1 reason I booked this hotel. I needed two connecting rooms: one for my kids and one for myself and my spouse. I booked connecting rooms online months in advance. Then 24 hours prior to check in, I tried to check in online. It checked me into one room but not the other supposedly connecting room. I messaged the hotel: is there a problem with the connecting rooms? They wrote back oh no there’s a systems glitch, there is no problem. I said ok, because I would like to emphasize that the main thing I care about is the connecting rooms (thinking I could still switch hotels if it was an issue.) The hotel doubled down, writing back again that there was no problem, the rooms were connecting and this was totally fine. I am sure everyone can see where this story is going by now. We arrive at the hotel after a cross country 5.5 hour flight at 10PM local time (back home it is 1 AM, and I’m traveling with children.) Oh no, turns out there are no connecting rooms available! Could you have guessed!?! The hotel said to me: “We are having a systems issue. If this was so important to you, why didn’t you message the hotel to double check?” which is where my opinion of this hotel really started to go even further south. So yep, we ended up in two completely separate rooms, nowhere near each other with one adult and one kid per room, which is not the way our two bags of luggage was packed. Super helpful. My takeaway is that the hotel doesn’t really care about meeting the needs of its customers, and when called out on it, they try to make it seem like it’s your fault.
