Days Inn by Wyndham Ridgecrest near China Lake Naval Station

I stayed here for the first time recently, and found that the motel I had booked a few weeks prior to my visit had changed from Econolodge to Days Inn. Renovation work was being done but it didn't bother me during my stay. The location was not the most convenient along a diagonal street near a major corner intersection in town, making access a bit difficult but it was ok. I had a large room with a large TV, and there was a separate vanity from the bathroom area. The room had a mini-fridge (though it didn't include a freezer compartment), microwave, coffeemaker, and iron and board, plus a desk and chair. When I first got to the room I noticed the smell of whatever cleaner had been used there but it either went away after awhile or I got used to it and didn't notice it. The A/C worked well though it was noisy. The included breakfast options were fairly standard but fine for me - coffee, tea, juice, cereal, mini-muffins, bagels, toaster waffles, granola bars. There were signs of wear at the motel exterior but my room was clean and appeared to be well-maintained (though the liquid soap dispenser at the vanity sink was empty). Staff was friendly and efficient, and the price seemed a reasonable value.

The room was large for the kiddos, but I asked for a non smoking room yet there was a blanket that had cigarette burns. The paper was pealing off. The bathtub had stuff coming up from the bottom. I choose those place for the breakfast option which states it has a waffle maker. Ended up going to spend more money at the store because they did not have the waffle makers. And the food they had out was either something my kids wouldn’t eat or was allergic too. Also I woke up with four different bug bites.

The staff is friendly and helpful. The rooms are large and clean. Bbq out in a gated grass area with a horseshoe pit. Hotel is pet friendly too! Free breakfast in the am too! Thank you Econolodge! They are beginning a remodel/update too!

Ridgecrest is a small town but with lots of restaurants, a Walmart supercenter and a cinema in front of the hotel. We used the hotel as a starting than landing point to Death Valley wonderful National Park. The hotel is clean, calm at night, staff is friendly, breakfast served as from 5.00 am which is superb but the hotel has some limitations : air conditioning/heating is very noisy, rooms are very simplified (when compared with same price level hotels we experienced during our California trip), breakfast is minimalistic and there is not a real dining room but 2 tables in the reception area. You can ask ice and receive a (very) small bag of ice at reception. So a rather mixed experience and it's hard to understand why in a small town, this hotel has a rather poor value/cost relationship.

This is the second Econolodge at which we have stayed and I must admit we are very impressed. The room has everything you could need with the exception of a freezer in the fridge. Beds comfortable; good hot water and a non slip shower. We appreciated the bottled cold water upon arrival on a very hot day as well as the snacks offered. Reception was friendly and efficient. The continental breakfast was sufficient. Good value for money.
