We had an unfavorable first impression and interaction with office staff at check in and then after setting up our RV. The older woman in office (later identified as Lisa) was initially offended by a comment that check in parking was confusing. Then we found 2 sewer hook ups in our site without an indication of which to use. The newer one in the 'middle' of the RV parking area had 2 caps, which indicated to us that it was not in use. When Lisa and maintenance person responded to the plugged (old) sewer, they said we were using the wrong sewer hook up and we were parked over the sewer connection. We also had since had our 30amp breaker trip with the A/C and electric water heater on with temperatures over 100 that day. When advising office staff of the weak breaker she promptly replied that its an old campground with old sewer and old power. Our reservation confirmation email indicated 'modern full hook ups'. The campground has many amenities, but that does not equate to a favorable star rating. While there is a lot of potential it is very run down and lacks pride in ownership. There are many long term residents n the campground with no apparent guidelines or restrictions for site appearance. I would no recommended or stay at this location again.

The motel, cabins, and campground were set in a peaceful wooded area. Checking was easy with friendly staff. Our motel room was spacious, clean, and attractive, nicely decorated. There was a sitting area with a small table and adequate outlets. The little camp store had milk. The only downside was the hot shower water was only room temperature temperature, discovered too late in the evening to let management know.

If you’re looking for something that’s not your standard corporate hotel experience then this is a really lovely find. We booked it mostly because of the location and we’re surprised how welcoming and accommodating they were. We had a choice of rooms so we could figure out what worked best with the rollaway bed. Lisa, the manager, and her staff have clearly been working hard to renovate and raise the standards since they took over over a couple of years ago. There’s still more work to do, apparently, but the rooms are clean and comfortable and the (five) cats that roam the property are charming. This place has more amenities than you’d expect: a convenience store (with all the essentials including alcohol), laundry, mini-golf, a pool, sauna, mini-arcade with six or seven classic 80s-90s games and pinball. (We didn’t get to try them all.)

Friendly, helpful staff in a beautiful location about 30 min. from the southern edge of Humboldt State Park. But it's a small cabin with an even smaller kitchen/bathroom sink. The door to the bathroom doesn't close completely. The toilet was weak. For some reason, we had to pay $160/night-- not worth it. Lots of good hot water though! The staff helped us immediately with things when they came up. The free wifi worked.

Not sure what qualifies this place as a resort... the tiny pool? the mini-golf? the dry riverbed running by the property? That said, it's not so bad as they say. Where our room was situated (right near the entrance), we didn't get to see much of the dumpiness of the property alluded to in other reviews. The overall cleanliness is at best so-so. And water in the toilet is indeed brown. I just adopted third world protocols (brushing teeth with bottled water). OTOH, we had a nice corner unit with a kitchenette. It wasn't particularly stocked, but it was a kitchenette nonetheless. I hope they don't wash the dishes with the same water though. The bed was OK in terms of comfort. Not particularly soft, but not rock hard. We had a rollaway, which ironically was the most comfortable of all the bedding choices. The futon wasn't comfortable at all. I did like the fact that we could pull right up to the room and unpack literally feet from the car. Internet was remarkably fast. A/C worked well. There was a nice patio, which stays warm well into the evening in the summer. Kids made friends at the pool... and got to visit some of the other accommodations in the process. They report that the cabins are much smaller and not nearly as nice as our room.
