The Portofino Hotel is one of the hidden gems of LA. Although an older hotel, I have never found another that can beat its views and overall vibe. Friendly staff, great bar & restaurant, and just close to smaller, more local area's of the beach cities.

Grand hotel. Driving from the main road to hotel was challenging after dark. Nice upgrades but hall & room carpets had a slight old wet smell. Loved the sea lion symphony! Beautiful grounds. Excellent front desk staff, especially Gregory!

I stayed for one night. The room is luxe and I enjoyed reading by the fire in the lobby in the evening. I felt safe and there were a few restaurants within walking distance. Depending on your goals for your stay, this is tucked away in a little alcove so you'll have to walk or drive to places. Thanks to Gregory for the warm welcome!

We stayed on the cay side of the hotel and the view and sea breeze was exemplary. We were even serenaded by the sea lions, who were polite enough not to disturb our sleep. The Baleen is a bit pricey but the food and service are outstanding. My wife has a severe dairy allergy and they were more than happy to accommodate.

Get a room on the sea side if you want a better view. Of course you will also hear barking seals. Room service is very popular from the hotel restaurant, which is next to the hotel. The area is flat and good for walking or cycling. The hotel rents bicycles.

(lobby) An intimate Lobby Living Room with 3-story French windows that open onto the Pacific Ocean, sheer draperies billowing in the fresh ocean breeze. Eclectic furnishings include 7 chandeliers, striped, chintz and leather sofa and chair groupings surround a stunning fireplace. The lobby living room bar is open Monday - Saturday from 4:00 - 9:00 PM and is a favorite gathering place of locals and hotel guests alike. (general) The Portofino is a complete resort experience, offering a 24-hr. fitness center, oceanfront outdoor heated swimming pool, complimentary beach cruiser bicycles. Easily accessible are kayak and pedal boat rentals. The famous Redondo Pier, along with many great restaurants, is within walking distance. Riviera Village and South Bay Galleria shopping are just minutes away. Relax and watch the graceful sailboats glide by and the sea lions frolic in the surf.
