Americas Best Value Inn Novato Marin Sonoma

It wasn’t as bad as all the reviews saying don’t stay here. We stayed because we had our dog Georgia and this was the only place around that allowed pets. No parking left in the lot at 9:15pm. We had to park on the street. Sketchy people around but nobody bothered us. We had a room sheltered from the railroad tracks and balcony 2nd floor looking out to the street. The room was medium sized with a fridge and microwave and ice downstairs.

You get what you pay for, right? This place is wedged between railroad tracks and a busy thoroughfare. Surprisingly, we heard little or no traffic/trains. The room is very modestly decorated. Desk, table, dorm fridge, nuker and small TV. For the price, it met our needs but we won't stay there again. The king sized bed was akin to sleeping on a large piece of plywood. Absolutely no give to it. I agree with the other reviewers regarding "sketchy" people in the parking lot and lobby. Although, we were not bothered by anyone.

I checked in around 4 PM, I turned on the TV, and no signal, I called down to the desk and was told maintenance would not be on till 6 PM! So I decided to get on the internet, I signed onto the WiFi and got connected but no internet! I called down to the desk again and was told there were too many people on it! I continued throughout my stay and it was touch and go if I could get online. The card key had to be reset 2 times also. Besides that, the room was large and clean. I would suggest that you use it just for an overnight stay along your journey.

I'm giving four stars because the room was a good value -- about the cheapest in town, especially on a weekend when other places were much more expensive. The room was kind of dingy but adequate; the bed was comfortable and the WiFi was solid and fairly fast. But... When I pulled in, someone creepy was sitting on the edge of the parking lot. Two guests going into their room looked like aspiring rock musicians who hadn't slept or taken a shower for days. The desk clerk was friendly enough, but he gave me a long list of rules to sign... it looked serious, so I asked for a copy. See the photo attached. "Failure to check out on time will result in your items being removed. ... Rates may change without notice. ... No major appliances allowed. ... Not a care facility; if you need help, seek the proper business." Etc. etc. I'm guessing the the rules are mostly for less-desirable long-term guests, but they were a bad introduction.

Wifi didn't work in my room on the 3rd floor. The room was filthy, several things from other travelers left on the floor under the bed. Plug was broken behind bed. It smelled like stale cigarette smoke. Bed was horrible and uncomfortable. Save your money.
