Hilton Garden Inn Monterey

As a Gold Member, I went down to the front desk to ask if a late checkout was possible -a perk of holding this status. The older, tall female Front Desk member would not grant a later time without escorting me to my room to 'check if something that belonged to me was in there'. She walked me in disbelief as far as the elevator where I AGAIN stressed that the room was under my name and tried to show her (once more) my i.d. and credit card it was booked under! Finally, she stopped and said 'let me check something'. Only then, did she do what she was suppose to in the first place - without judging perhaps...my appearance. Still have a bad taste in my mouth when I think of this hotel and will never return.

10/10 would recommend this quaint hotel in beautiful Monterey. Each employee my family and I encountered was friendly, knowledgeable and quite frankly made our trip one for the memory bank. We loved the hotels proximity to Cannery Row and the Aquarium. We look forward to our next visit! Suggestion: The property should embrace more of an ocean/aquarium theme to make it a more Monterey immersive experience. A fish tank or clam chowder bar in the lobby would be a fun addition!

This hotel is a little bit out of town but it’s very conveniently located for the freeway which was what we wanted as we were doing the 17 mile drive and going down to Big Sur while we were here and it’s 5 miles from Carmel which is lovely but a lot more expensive. We were a bit shocked to be charged $20 per day to park in the hotel’s own carpark. These carpark charges which we encountered all along the coast did seem a new way to chisel money from customers. However our room was very nice and spacious with a coffee machine and a nice balcony. And the room was very quiet. The hotel had a laundry room which was great for travellers like us and avoided expensive hotel laundry bills. We ate in the hotel’s own restaurant on 2 of our 3 nights probably because it was inconvenient to go into town but the food was good and not too expensive. All in all the hotel had a relaxed and friendly vibe.

Another great stay. Relatives from Kansas City joined us for a few days of sightseeing, wine tasting tour and enjoying the breakfasts and dinners at the hotel. Staff and especially the manager, Marion, ensured our experience was seamless and enjoyable.
