Western Sands Motel

Pros: One of the cheapest places to stay in Indio, room and bathroom were spacious, room was clean but old , large refrigerator with freezer- Cons: Carpet and upholstery on chair was torn in a few spots, no maid service, had a kitchenette but wouldn't probably cook in it - kind of falling apart. If you are just looking for a spot to sleep, this is for you. The beds were pretty comfortable. Like I said above, the hotel is quite old and the kitchenette cabinets were kind of falling apart. I guess if you want maid service, you would have to request it? Get what you pay for.

The room was very large. The hotel is old so that would be standard for those days. It was very clean. Bathroom floor was newly tiled and very clean. It came with a full kitchen and the kitchen was clean and large although some of the drawers didn’t open. The hotel is in walking distance to a Walgreens and other stores. We never found the remote control for the t.v. Maybe you need to ask for it when you check in. All in all it is a nice place for the reasonable price.

So to tell anyone and everyone not to stay here is an absolute understatement, you should run far far away and never look back! So we walked in and the room was not clean AT ALL! It smelled like someone squatted and took a poop in thr middle of the floor and trash, their was crumbs, trash and food from the last people who stayed here in the cabinets. So literally we had to go to the store buy cleaning products to clean and scrub down the room to get rid of the smell not to mention disinfecting everything including the shower which was filthy and full of black mold (YES I SAID BLACK MOLD not a big deal or anything) as you can see in the pictures. The bathroom door does not close, the microwave caught on fire and was replaced with an even dirtier one that I guess they refused to clean. Remote in the room doesnt work, cabinets are dirty, toilet had poop stains in it. It was my husband, sister and 3 little kids, 5, 1 and 8 months which I refused to bathe because of so much black mold on the door, the floor and walls of the shower. This place needs to be shut down by the health department FOREVER! I AM REPORTING THIS TO THEM PERIOD.

The Western Sands Motel is a reasonable budget Motel we have used two years running when attending the Indian Wells Tennis Tournament. The Motel is bare bones with a bed, kitchen area and shower. It is base level at best with adequate air conditioning, 2/5 star ammenities and no room service, no new towels, etc. If you need something nice this is not the location for you. If you are happy with a roof, bed and air conditioning and a value price this is the Motel for you. It is located next to saloon/bar with bars on the windows which can be heard from the motel rooms late into the evening. On the plus side it is within a short distance from a grocery store, gas, and restaurants and the freeway. If you are attending the tennis tournament this Indio location is on a main road and you are about a 10 minute drive to the venue which is nice. In cost this hotel was 1/3rd the cost of hotels closer to Indian Wells during the tournament when booked 6 months in advance.

Worst place we have stepped into!!! Totally disgusting!!! We booked this dump on internet because it looked ok in picture and a couple of reviews.....but they must be FAKE reviews!!! We needed something for two nights while waiting to check into our timeshare. We paid cash for room (192.00) before seeing our room since we didn't feel comfortable giving him our cc number. We were grossed out the second we walked in. The kitchen cabinets were filthy and falling of, grease everywhere. The towels had hairs and stuff stuck all over them. Box springs had vomit stains all down the sides along with huge mold and mildew stains. Curtains were all stained and falling down. TOTALLY FILTHY IN WAY!!! Room 126 was ours. We packed back up and couldn't get out of there fast enough and left without even trying to get our money back. We went over to Ridgeway inn and suites!! Very nice place!!
