A most excellent establishment. They do it right. Clean quiet and pragmatically appointed. Classy furniture of slightly retro, old-fashioned character that evoke familiarity and ease. Definitely my go-to place to reintegrate and recharge

The hotel room was subpar to say the least. Cold sticky, dirty bathroom floor that left your socks black, carpet in main room was damp and smelled. Found a cup with marijuana cigarettes in it under the bed. Prepaid for the room online, then charged another nominal fee at check-in for God knows what. It was late and it was nominal so I didn’t question it The worst is that they take $100 deposit and then only refunded $75. I called the hotel and the lady that answered stated that we took a pillow. There was only two pillows on each bed when we got there and the same 2 pillows on each bed when we left. We brought our own pillows, as we always do. The last thing I want to steal is a plastic pillow from a budget hotel. Management refuses to call back and address the charge for the pillow, the phone number is listed for the hotel are all routed to an offsite remote, working lady who has no access to anything at the hotel. By looking at other reviews, this seems to be a standard practice. I would make a hotel staff check out with me if I was to ever stay here again, which is highly unlikely!

I recently (February 7-9, 2025) stayed 2 nights at the Bayside Inn & Suites in Eureka, CA. Check in was fine – the front desk clerk was nice. We talked about which room I would have (with my son and his family next door). I gave him my credit card and he asked me to sign the pad, which I did. He did not ask if I wanted a copy and I didn’t think to ask for one. I was looking through the front window at the parking lot and thought there’s no way I would go out there at night. Quite a few “sketchy” people were in the parking lot. Thankfully my son was there to escort me to the car. I let a couple things go in my original review: a small hole in the shower, sketchy place to be at night and my socks were brown on the bottoms after walking around the hotel room. When you check in, they charge your credit card an extra $100. I guess it’s in case you trash the room. I called Monday morning to check to see when they would put the money back in my account. The person I talked to said it takes a couple days. I called again on Wednesday, February 12th after I checked my bank account and saw they only put back $75. I spoke to Nesele who sounded very pleased they put back the $75. I asked why only $75 and not the $100. She told me that it’s because I USED THE TOWELS. I asked if I called a hotel and did she realize people take showers and use towels. She said it’s policy. Then she said it’s because I stained a washcloth and hand towel. I used it to take my makeup off. I do it all the time at home. Throw it in the washer and it’s good; no stain. And, I’m pretty sure hotels use bleach. Again, she said it’s policy to charge for stained items. I asked to speak to the Manager; she refused, saying I could send an e-mail. I asked for the Manager’s name and direct number and again she refused. I sent an e-mail to the “Manager” and received a reply. He/she never signed their name, just signed the e-mail “Manager”. I was told the “$25.00 charge is legitimate as it is based on the agreement made during your check-in regarding damages to the room and property”. I told the Manager that I never received a print out of the check in information and the picture they sent me was taken prior to washing it as it was taken on the counter in the bathroom area of the room I was in. I asked what the housekeeping protocol is as far as washing goes. Long story short, I received no response. My last e-mail to the Manager was February 18th. I don’t know who sent the e-mail as there is no name, just signed “Manager”. In looking at other reviews, this is an ongoing issue – charging for supposedly “stained” towels. The reviews also state that people don’t feel comfortable going to the parking lot in the evening/night. If I thought it would make a difference, I would send them an invoice for my dirty socks. They say they’re “the best hotel in Eureka”, which is laughable. The free breakfast is a wrapped muffin, protein bar, fairly non existent. Read the reviews on every platform you can. Besides quite a few charges for “stained” towels, someone found a used condom under a chair where their child was playing. Obviously housekeeping isn’t doing a very good job of cleaning, obvious between that and my dirty socks. I highly recommend no one stays at this facility.

Atrocious. As always, the floor makes bare feet black if one makes contact with the floor. We knew we were going cheap so we accepted this. We also accepted the blood and ink stains on our bed blankets, since we have a service animal and know that hotels put older blankets in those rooms. The bathtub was so old and filthy my child refused to bathe. After checking out, I realized I forgot the iPhone charger. After calling three times this week and no answer on it, I went to the hotel today. No charger cord. Accused of urinating on the blanket and charged $80 from the deposit. Yes, we spilled some curry sauce on the blanket that already had blood and ink stains on it. No, we are not used to being insulted: and watch out for the front desk attendant with dyed white hair! Some people seem nice and then accuse one of URINATING IN THE BED?!!! She also commented that because I had been polite and accepted the messiness, there was no recourse and I was paying $80 for the blanket. Best Western, people, Best Western instead!

The motel accommodation was perfect, comfortable beds, spacious room. Everything needed for a short stay. Staff also were friendly and helpful. Personally, I don't think the "breakfast" is worth their bothering with. I was not very happy about the $100 deposit that takes 2-5 days to be returned.
