Carlsbad By The Sea Hotel

I am currently staying at this hotel, and I would be generous to give it even one star. So far, we've had no lukewarm water, the hot tub is broken, the workout room is closed, and the ice machine is out of order. And a huge part of the hotel is under noisy renovations. The final straw came when we took the free shuttle to Legoland. Upon getting dropped off, the driver handed us a card and said, “Call anytime, and we will pick you up. It only takes about five minutes.” However, when I called to request a pickup, I was told that they have a standard shuttle schedule and do not offer on-demand pickups. Overall, there are many other hotels in the area, and I would not recommend staying here.

The pool and hot tub were absolutely unusable (FILTHY.) We were put in a room near the back of the hotel (which appeared to be mostly empty) and had a group of LOUD, rowdy neighbors placed in the room next to us around 12:30am. They proceeded to attempt to break through the adjoining door between our rooms. It was terrifying and the front desk clerk did not seem to share our concern for our safety. We were untimely moved to another room at 2am (at our insistence.) We had our young son with us and it all made for a terrible night of sleep.

We recently stayed here for a wedding since the venue was also where the reception was being held. Overall the staff was friendly and helpful, that was a great part of the experience. The room is a bit old or at least felt it to us and seemed to be more of a motel feeling than a hotel feeling. The location is good and easy to get on the highway and there is plenty of food options around you. Inside the room it was a relatively standard set up. The only odd part was the window in shower. It seemed a bit weird to us. There is a cool little bar and food set up at the windmill if you are staying here that is worth visiting. I would ay that if the reception wasn't here, I wouldn't have stayed here.

I stayed at this hotel for a single night and was completely disappointed. I intended on trying it out and revisit for future reoccurring trips but that won’t happen. In the room, I found 2 Earwigs crawling on the floor next to the baseboards, a big spider on the ceiling, cobwebs and hair in the drapes, and a wet dripping ceiling. I’m confident the room had mold inside. The shuttle was convenient but was filthy inside. These issues could be simply fixed by being more attentive and spending the time. Save your money and spend it elsewhere.

save money go elsewhere, I'm next to freeway and very noisy, there is no internet on this side of hotel, no cold water, they have builders in next door, i should have moved, here with work, never again, pool and hot tub look dirty, the gym is a joke, I would have better conditions in a prison cell.
