Holiday Inn Express Hotel & Suites Barstow Outlet Center an IHG Hotel

The condition of this hotel is poor...not clean...and in need of a complete redo. Our bathroom tub was filthy, the floor equally so. One look at the carpet in the hotel and the grime in the elevator should have warned us. We discovered the full,length curtains cover the heat/ac unit (usually designed to be shorter in that position) and when we mentioned it to the desk clerk she assured us they were designed so we could fold them on top of the unit! Really? There was a small refrigerator on the floor because it didn't fit in the original space designed for it. The ice maker was out of order. The sofa was dirty. Breakfast offered premade omelets that had been burned, orange juice was empty, coffee was empty and a small wastebasket was overflowing and stayed that way even after a breakfast room employee put her own trash in it. Several members of what were probably housekeeping employees were making themselves breakfast and neither they nor the person in charge of the breakfast room seemed to mind that several tables needed cleaning. I cleaned ours myself. For $220. a night I expected much better.

Of all the IHG hotels so far, this is the worst. The cost is way over value. Check in: 1 employee present, 1 guest in front of us. Completely overwhelmed. Process took almost 30 minutes. The room has old furniture, damage to all parts. Carpet stained and not properly vacuumed. Practically old - used. Breakfast: 2 days there and every day something was missing or was only replenished upon insistent request. Sometimes only 15 minutes later. Even the scrambled eggs regularly ran out. Knives were sometimes missing here, then no more bread. Average quality. Conclusion, at this price it's understandable that you can't expect much.

Very nice well-maintained property. Fine location. Breakfast included is an extra treat. A quickly-responsive maintenance manager helped us. We would add that our meals at the nearby Panera Bread Restaurant were delicious. The Outlet Center is next door.

Not the most welcoming of arrivals, couldn’t take their AirPods out whilst serving us. Room was as you would expect, (two queen bed) bath was small, but shower was powerful. Blinds were closed on our arrival so we went to let daylight in but found them to be broken (hence closed I suppose). Corridors smelt of mildew. Pool had a sign on stating out of use but reception staff stated we could use… questionable pool was green in colour and couldn’t see the floor! (We don’t use it!) Restrooms by reception were not air conditioned and were smelly (we went back to our room). Complimentary breakfast was adequate, nothing special. It was certainly a quick stop over hotel nothing more. In and out as quick as we could.
