Days Inn by Wyndham Woodland

What do you think of this? I pulled in to the Days Inn by Wyndham Woodland, and my head imploded as a "virtual assistant" attempted to check me in. C'mon! I'm speechless. Appearing on a flat screen TV, a woman wearing a wide smile as fake as a lab-grown diamond, harangued me to approach her. Weary from a long drive, I sighed; I am not embracing the hotel's zany idea. But too tired to resist, I obeyed my tormenter, and placed my driver's license and Amex card on a flat bed scanner. Nothing happened. In a scratchy voice the woman told me to "try again." Me? I had had enough. "No," I answered, turning back to the front counter where a human checked me in. Anyway, I feel for the future of this hotel's employees.

Nice, clean and well kept. Room was very clean and all amenities in good condition. One minor complaint. The grounds where pets walk had broken glass. Management should pay more attention to that. The selections on the TV are basic cable. No premium channels.The surrounding community offers plenty in the way of restaurants at all price points.

The checkin is with a Kiosk machine. I do not think this is considered a person service. The room was clean. There was no sugar or cream for the coffee. There was a nice extra chair in the corner, this could have used a small table to put drink glasses on. The staff that we encountered were friendly and helpful. ..........................................................................

The price was right for a quick and short trip to the area. There isn’t a customer service representative behind the counter when you walk in. They have a kiosk with a live representative waiting to help you. The representative was very friendly and the registration process was easy to follow. My hotel room was nice and clean. It had a tv, phone, microwave, mini fridge, and a coffee maker that takes coffee pods. The shower smelled like chlorine and/or bleach. It was a bit off putting so I opted to use bottled water when I brushed my teeth. The complimentary breakfast was set up really nice in the lobby. They offered fresh coffee, juice, milk, almond milk, fruit, oatmeal, bread, bagels, and cereal. I believe there were a few other items as well. In the same parking lot there is a Black Bear Diner and a MaDonald’s. Close by there were other fast food restaurants. Over all my stay was nice for what I needed.

Surprisingly clean rooms. I was not expecting the clean laminate floors but definitely preferred over dirty carpets. Coffee in lobby was good and McD’s just a short walk away to get some protein for breakfast. Good value for my daughter’s move in to college. Close to Walmart Home Depot and Costco for apartment needs. Near freeway but earplugs definitely keep the noise out for a good night’s sleep. Very comfortable king and pillows. Virtual check in was a little eerie (kiosk with video image of front desk person), but appreciate the need to use tech where practical. Will stay again for the pure value proposition compared to other Davis/Woodland options.
