Great Oceanfront location. Quiet rooms. Close to Big Sur. And Paso Robles wines. And Cambria. Ask for the Ocean View rooms as they are right on the ocean. But don’t get room service for the food, although the food is good, there is like a $20 add on to deliver it to your room, which is about 50 yards from the restraunt!

I would only recommend this property due to the location on the beach, and not the facility itself. The hotel is worn, is in need of a deep clean, and a fresh coat of paint. The furniture and curtains were dirty, and the room smelled strongly of smoke. The bathtub and sink had very slow drains that should have been caught and fixed before someone rented it. There was no microwave, and if you wanted to use a fridge, you had to share the space with the "minibar." Given there is only one restaurant, the need to reheat meals, and have your own food is necessary. Although the gym is unlocked at 7:30 am, guests aren't allowed to use it before 9 am. At that hour, after a workout and a shower, you can kiss half your day goodbye. I spent the upgrade to have a room on the beach side with a patio. However, the sound between ceiling and the floor above is no better than a cheaply-built apartment. Don't plan on getting any rest unless your upstairs neighbors are on your same schedule. Again, the location on the beach is great. The facility...not so much...

Before everything else, I'm not a picky person, and I chose this hotel as a better alternative to camping. So, I had simple expectations. Checking in was fast and simple. Lobby coffee is drab. Ample parking space. Assigned a 1st floor room and felt fortunate it had such a stunning view. It was almost sunset. Glad to see happy kids at the pool, amidst the sound of the waves from the beach. The room was spotless, but clearly dated. Smells of sand, leather, and all-purpose cleaner. Chairs seem deflated, but there's two. Updated lamps with USB ports. Mini-fridge was dripping water into carpet. Sink was spacious, and well lighted. The closet, well sized, had all the extras. Bathroom was just toilet and shower, and was thoughtfully well-stocked with toiletries. You could sense the effort in making it clean. There is no microwave, no A/C (but there's a tower fan), wifi is weak. Beds were soft on top, but had left-in shapes that were hard. Pillows perfect and clean. However, since I sleep on my side, the smell on side of the bed and carpet was noticeable. We had closed windows because car exhaust came in. So, it was uncomfortably warm until we opened the bathroom window. I noticed bedbug bites on my shoulder the next day (this is the only hotel we went to for the entire trip). We knew this is a pet-friendly place and had bifenthrin spray with us. We're lucky it wasn't fleas - in fact, surprisingly there were no fleas. Wasn't really expecting having to use repellents. The fire pits were a major plus. Bring your own cord of pine wood, or ask the front desk for some delivered to whichever of the 2 you prefer. The grounds crew was polite and most courteous. Just don't use the driftwood from the beach as the smoke from it smells bad; on you, for other people. Anyway we hung out by the lawn fireplace until close to midnight, when we ran out of s'mores. Restaurant: The hamburger was a knockout, fries on it not so much. The clam chowder was spot on creamy, without anything mushy. Fish and chips, right batter made great cod even better. It's on the pricier side (and I'm from LA), but is a step up from restaurants across PCH, both in food quality and ambience. It was a shame we didn't get to use the pool. It probably was salt-water, as I didn't smell chlorine. I could see the huge filtration system, too. It was just too windy during our stay. Check out is generous at 11. Seamless as ever. I still went for the lobby coffee anyway. It's all there; creamer, sugar, cups with cover, regular or decaf, but when it's been there for quite some time, it just seems something is missing.

The only thing good about our experience was the view. The rooms? The shower head was disgusting, the mattresses were hard, woke up with a headache, there was NO air circulation/AC, the desk chair is extremely uncomfortable, the pillows provided little to no support, and the safe was low battery so couldn’t even be used. Very disappointed, of the 4 hotels we visited on this road trip, this was the worst by far. I do not recommend this hotel, look for another.

This place is great for a relaxing weekend getaway. Our dog loved it too! 11 out of 10 recommend. The restaurant food was just ok. The burger, chicken tenders and fries were good. Chili tasted like it was from a can. But the place was peaceful and relaxing.
