Courtyard by Marriott San Francisco Union Square

Got here at 9 pm and exhausted. Although my room had been booked weeks before they told me all they could do was put me on the hallway right next to the bar on the ground floor. I’ve got a lot of Marriott points and used to be platinum reward level. The guy at the front desk was completely unsympathetic to my request for a quiet room. I went to my room and then noticed that the deadbolt was broken. Went back and requested another room and all they could do is put me even closer to the bar. Lots of other people were coming in and checking in and getting their rooms on upper floors and for some reason I was stuck on the ground floor next to the bar. Do not stay here!

All things considered, this is a really nice hotel for the Courtyard brand. It’s location is great near Union Square, the staff is super friendly (shoutout Deshawn for being sooo helpful!!). The hotel itself is modern, clean, and pretty quiet. The room is clean as well. Overall, zero complaints at all! Nice view from the room as well! Fantastic stay.

Hotel was in a good location with several stores and restaurants nearby. Room and bathroom was a bit small but i think was just good enough. We love the service from the staff, specifically Christian who helped us check-in very smoothly and provided details for our stay. As well as Jay from housekeeping who was very accommodating on our needs in the room. And especially to Amiya from the front desk who had a very pleasing personality as she was very helpful in providing details and guidance on our questions and with directions and suggestions for places to visit. Overall, the hotel was a good place to stay for its price point.

Overall sub-par Marriott experience. Location in the Tenderloin...drug addicts, homeless, mentally disturbed people right outside this location. Lots of dog/human feces on sidewalks & sidewalks constantly being hosed off to fix issue. Slipped on wet sidewalk one day while walking downhill to catch the bus. Stay was Tuesday, October 29 - Saturday, November 9, 2024. Outstanding & quick repairs done by Ramon, Building Maintenance Engineer who apologized numerous times for all the issues in my room. Many bathroom plumbing issues: sink stopper broken, was fixed upon reporting. Bathtub drain filthy & had never been cleaned...stopper broken...was fixed upon reporting. TV volume couldn't be heard even when remote volume turned to maximum of 100. Front desk didn't offer to replace tv. TV kept turning off after only couple of seconds of use. Both issues kept occurring throughout my 11 night stay. Sink faucets both leaked with tons of water running on top/sides of sink...had to be mopped up constantly with towel/washcloth. Handle/lever in tub stopped working & slid to scalding hot position after 3rd day in shower. Was eventually fixed. Light bar under TV went out after first use...was replaced. Lots of construction/painting during stay so only 1 of the 2 elevators available for guests to use resulting in much longer wait times to get an elevator...bad inconvenience for guests! Info on problems given to Bebe Miller, General Manager, who asked me to email her details. Initially she offered compensation for TV issues but never heard from her again after I sent a second email detailing the many other plumbing, TV & room issues I had.

We had such a great experience at this hotel from check in to check out. It was unplanned for us to stay the night in San Francisco but due to a cancelled flight, we decided it was better to stay than fly on another airline. We enjoy downtown San Francisco so we picked this hotel for the location and Marriott name. Check in with Antoinette was seamless and after hearing our story of the canceled flight, she gave us a room with a view of the downtown area. She was so kind and gave us recommendations for dining around the area. Our room was spacious with plush bedding and everything we needed after a long day of traveling. We also enjoyed the bar/restaurant that evening. The bartender made us great rum cocktails and chatted with us as well. The location was close to many restaurants, bars and convenience stores for snacks, etc. We will definitely be back. Thanks to Antoinette and the whole staff!
