GreenTree Inn Flagstaff

I just completed my 5th and last stay with Green Tree; and cancelled an upcoming reservation. I used to like this place when they first remodeled pre-covid and has drastically gone downhill. Dirty floors, including hair, dried up wet stains around the toilet including stains in the actual toilet from lack of an actual basic cleaning. The shower head plumbing exposed/broken. Sink clogged, so water would pool for a while. Hair, dust, dead insects on the top shelf above the closet; even the blackout shade is ripped. Poor construction makes everything louder: people nextdoor, above, doors slamming until late at night, the only reason I gave one star as my only option are the friendly staff and make your own waffle

Just arrived after a long drive from the Phoenix Airport. It turns out you have to pay a $16 service fee for each night at the hotel even though I pre-paid online through booking.com. This is the first time that something like this has ever happened to me in the US and never before on booking.com It is shady. To make matters worse, I was told that I need to order room cleaning 24 hours in advance and I have to tell the front desk when I will be out of my room, also 24 hours in advance. A stupid situation to be sure. The staff at the front desk was curt and apathetic, but if this is how the business treats their customers, I can only imagine how they treat their employees, so I guess it makes sense.

Everything was nice they provided me with a crib for my child and then check out came and I was actively putting stuff in my car when I went inside for a second and room service came knocked and immediately opened the door, such an invasion of privacy I understand check out was 11 and I was packing up at 11:10 but to knock not even give me a chance to respond and then swing the door open, what if I was indecent or changing one of my children absolutely crazy and I have never experienced this at a hotel before.

The place is clean and staff is friendly, however there were some things that are the reason I’m only giving it 3 stars. There is no shelf or anything in the shower to place your items. They supply shampoo, conditioner, body wash, soap and lotion and it all smells exactly the same, like medicine. It’s like a mix of tree tea oil and eucalyptus. I could not use any of it. The highway is very loud and you can hear all traffic if your room is at the back, which ours was. We could hear the person in the room above us walking, rolling in the chair and most of their movements. It was not a good nights sleep.
