I am writing this review on behalf of my husband, who is a disabled veteran. He traveled to Opelika to visit a friend in hospice care. His flight was very late and he was exhausted upon arrival. He had attempted to call the hotel numerous times, but no one would answer the phone. The front desk proceeded to tell him his reservation was canceled, as he had not shown up on time and had “not called them”. They found him a room. He called to let me know he was safe, but forgot to tell me his room number. Later, when I tried to call him, the front desk refused to put my call through, or to leave him a message for me. I explained that he was disabled and having some issues with his phone, could they do a wellness check? They refused. Later, he did give me his room number and confirmed his cell phone was not working properly. I tried calling him through the hotel number NUMEROUS TIMES, to no avail. NO ONE EVER answered the phone again, the entire time he stayed there. He even went down stairs to talk to the desk attendant and NO ONE was at the desk. What kind of security is this for the hotel? Anyone could have walked in or out and done anything they wanted. By the third day, he found an attendant and told them he was having phone issues and if I called, could they please put the call through? They assured him, they would. He also requested a wake up call for the next morning. Neither of these ever happened. I called and let the phone ring 20 times, at various times; no one ever answered. No wake up call. Does no one work at the front desk in this place? I have never seen or heard of a hotel front desk with no attendant. And we are well traveled! We have also been Hilton Honors members for over 20 years. This is not safe! My husband made it home safely, only to be charged an extra $125 pet fee by this hotel. He has called numerous times to have this fee refunded. He definitely was not traveling with a pet! Neither he, nor the Hilton complaint people can get anyone at this hotel to answer the phone, again! Now, one of the hotel managers has called our home and claimed she remembers my husband and was the one who checked him in (really? Weeks later you remember him?) and the TWO DOGS he checked in with!!! He assured her he does not own two dogs, and she is mistaken. He was flying, renting a car, and visiting a dying friend; he most assuredly DID NOT BRING A DOG!!! She doubled down and told him she had it on video!!! This is all so ridiculous and exasperating!!! I am furious with the way this hotel has treated my husband! He is an excellent customer who always treats hotel staff with the utmost kindness and respect. We are waiting for them to send this supposed video to our email - I can’t wait to see who the person is that they “remember” him to be! To be continued…..

Upon arrival, the front desk staff was “assisting in a guest room “, so after driving 8 hours we had to wait 20 minutes to check in after 6pm. In our room there was a dirty bar of soap and no body wash. In the morning, there was no filter to make coffee. We stayed here several times when evacuating hurricanes, but what happened to the place??? Housekeeping is absolutely horrible and definitely affects the quality of a stay. I cannot not recommend this place ! Nor do I want to stay another night.

Hotel site says common areas under renovation. What it does not say is how dirty and disgusting the actual rooms are. Room smelled musty. Shower was terrible. Carpet was the worst I have ever experienced in a hotel. The attached pic shows white socks after walking on this carpet. I am a lifetime Hilton Diamond member and booked here on points. I was with family to play at the RTJ Grand National golf course. I was embarrassed to say I stay at Hampton and other Hilton properties constantly. This place is not representative of the name and what one usually finds with Hampton. Follow up calls to manager went unanswered. Planned to stay two nights, but got out after one. Only stayed because we got in so late. First time ever I have found a room bad enough to warrant a refund (in this case points). Stay away!!!

Lots of work going on which made the hotel grubby, breakfast in a dingy conference room. And staff non-plussed “didn’t you get the email?” Obviously not as I would have not stayed there. Advice is to avoid until they have completed the work and cleaned up.

This hotel was below expectations. Rooms were moldy smelling, beds unmade and bathroom door wouldn’t stay closed. Overcharged for a peak weekend because of college move in. Absolutely disappointed. They didn’t disclose construction in hotel
