Stayed here for a couple days while attending the Heritage golf tournament. We were never told prior to arriving of the construction which starts promptly at 8:00 a.m. The renovated lobby area is very sterile looking and not very inviting. The service in the lunch restaurant was ridiculously slow. Some of the staff were wonderful and some acted like they could care less. The woman at the front desk with the long brown hair needs an attitude adjustment. When I checked out, she barely made eye contact and never asked me how our stay was. I also overheard her several times making not very nice comments to the other staff about people she just spoke on the phone with. It took 3 phone calls to guest services to get additional hangers brought to our room as there were only 3 in the closet when we arrived. There were dirty glasses on the floor in the hallway by our room that sat there the entire duration of our stay. As for the positives: the food at breakfast, lunch, and dinner was delicious. You should seriously give the chef(s) a raise to keep them. The lobby bartenders were great as well as the servers at the Seacrest restaurant (both for breakfast and dinner). The gentleman at the Concierge desk was also very nice as were the bellmen. Beach access was also great.

The AC in the first room we were assigned was barely cooling. We were assigned a new room, which we appreciated. On the third night of our stay, the AC began failing. The unit began struggling to run. The room became hot, which was not conducive to a restful evening. I suspect, in addition to obvious construction, renovations are being done on the 2nd and 4th floors. In the bathroom, and close to the headboard, the noise was loud from what seemed to be jackhammering. The real asset of The Sonesta is the staff. Every staff member looked me in the eye and spoke warmly. The staff would bring me back, but the mechanicals need to be either better maintained or replaced.

My wife and I spent 2 days and nights at the Sonesta Beach at HHI, and were pleasantly surprised by the nice renovations that have been done there recently. As has always been the case at this hotel, the staff were very friendly and accommodating. Even before the recent renovations, Sonesta Beach Resort was our favorite HHI hotel. We were on the ground floor room 1088. The room was roomy and well appointed. The room faced onto the swimming pool and had a door that opened directly to the outside. We had a King bed that was comfortable. A new large flat screen TV was on the wall opposite the bed. This room had no closet and only limited space to hang clothing in a cubby where a small safe was also located. The safe made it impossible to hang more than a few shirts without folding the bottom of anything hanging above the safe. Since we were there only for a couple days, this was not an issue for us, but it could be a major issue for an extended time stay. Also, we noticed that wall plates in a couple wall openings were missing and need to be fixed. The bathroom was wheelchair accessible, which had a shower without a tub. The bathroom could use more shelf and storage space, but otherwise was clean and spacious. A major problem became apparent when we showered, as there was nothing to prevent the water from flowing out across the entire floor. This created a significant slipping hazard that should be addressed immediately. A ridge should be attached to the floor in the shower to block water from running into the rest of the floor, and a curtain should be added to stop splashing water, as well. Overall, this hotel is an excellent place to stay on HHI, and I recommend it highly.

I recently stopped in to see some friends while they were in town staying the resort. It's the first time I've seen it since the lobby renovations have been done. It was beautiful and so well thought out. Mike DeJesus at the bar provided wonderfully kind, quick, and hospitable service, despite the bar being completely jam packed. The night auditor at the front desk was also very alert and attentive.

Yes there is construction at the moment so check before you go to be sure youâre comfortable with whatâs happening. Parking was easy and close. The lobby is beautiful and spacious. Front desk staff were very kind and helpful. Our room and the hallways were newly redone, clean, modern and beautiful. Beds were comfortable and the rooms were very quiet. I might ask for extra pillows if I stayed again as they are very soft. The pool area was nice and the hot tub was closed. There was construction happening around the pool but I can honestly say it didnât bother us even when sitting around the pool. However, we were there primarily for the beach! The walk to the beach is easy and the beach is so lovely and the sand so soft. We didnât want to leave! We rented bikes and beach chairs on site. We also purchased a sâmores kit and made sâmores at the fire pits. We had an excellent time and would definitely stay again, construction or not!
